HEART OF GOODNESS
Fukushima Before 3.11
Traveling Photo Exhibition by Frances Tong
2011, 2012, 2106

A photo exhibition reminding people of the natural beauty of Fukushima and to raise awareness on environmental conservation.
On March 11, 2011, the world witnessed the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami that killed more than 20,000 people and made hundred of thousands homeless.
The disaster led to the breaking down of the nuclear plant and massive radiation leakage. Over 3300 workers were present at the Fukushima Daichi nuclear reactors that day. Radio-active pollutants have devastated farmlands, intoxicated children, adults and left many homeless.
The exhibition is dedicated to the silent heros who have risked their lives in the rescue, recovery and rebuild efforts.
Endorsed by the Japanese Consulate in Hong Kong, the exhibition has been held in a total of six venues since November 2011:
-
SR Gallery Café, Hong Kong | November 15 — December 14, 2011
-

-

Mission
Through the collective power of individuals and private and public entities contributing their specific talents and resources, we seek to use various forms of creative arts to inspire mindful living and consumption as a way to address environmental and humanitarian crisis.
In doing so, we aspire to:

Promote environmental protection and mindfulness, and energy conservation via the arts, arts education and appreciation
-
Alleviate the burdens and suffering of those impacted by man-made and natural disasters.
