RETREAT TO MOVE FORWARD.

Uniting art and mindfulness.

There's a kind of tired that sleep doesn't fix.

Why Retreat? Time to return to ourselves — our true home within. One of the only mountain retreats in Japan uniting art and mindfulness as one practice, led by an award-winning photographer, artist and certified yoga teacher.

Why Shiga Kogen? The birthplace of Breathing Landscapes — where Abundance and Breathing first came to life among these ancient forests. One of only nine UNESCO Biosphere Reserves in Japan — and one of the few places where I've felt this kind of high-vibrational energy.

Why The Beloved? That was the behind-the-scenes experience: joy isn't something to chase. It's already yours — waiting to be shared with you.

How it began...

My yoga journey began in 2000, once a week. By 2005 it had become a daily practice — one I've kept, unbroken, for over twenty years. Somewhere in those years, yoga stopped being something I did and became something I listened to. That shift is the heart of everything I now teach.

Most mainstream studio classes, without meaning to, turn yoga into a performance. The pose becomes the goal. You're told what shape to make, and your body obeys — a one-way command from mind to muscle. The results stay on the surface: looser hamstrings, a stronger core. But the deeper meaning of yoga — union, the actual joining of body and mind — quietly gets left behind.

My classes work the other way around. I teach body awareness first: how to feel your alignment through muscle, ligament, and tendon, and how to actually listen to what your body is telling you, rather than only commanding it. It becomes a somatic experience — a real, two-way dialogue with your own sensations, not a monologue. I also incorporate energy flower essence into the practice, supporting layers of healing that movement alone doesn't always reach.

When blockages release this way — through awareness instead of force — something shifts internally too. Emotional imprints held in the body start to loosen. Students don't just leave my class more flexible; they leave different — lighter, clearer, more themselves. That's the transformation I teach toward: outside in, and inside out.

I am also an artist and photographer. I teach creativity, and seeing the unseen — not only aesthetically. In the body, that means connecting with sensation the way a brush connects with light and color. Muscles, ligaments, tendons are our brushes, our pens, our camera lens. When we paint, we become one with our tools. It's the same with the body.

I was born Catholic, with thirty years of meditation practice influenced by teachers including Thich Nhat Hanh and Mingyur Rinpoche. For me, yoga is where those paths meet — a way to pray with the body. In Vinyasa, breath becomes sacred: the body is where the Spirit resides, holds, and molds us.

During class, I connect with students through both words and touch. As one of Asia's few Certified Trainers in Australian Colour Flower Essence, and a Usui Reiki practitioner, my adjustments carry that training with them — a healing touch, not just a physical correction. My role is simple: to help peace and healing move through.

This isn't a class you'll find at your neighborhood studio.

If you are seeking to unveil what's hidden, and release old imprints — here you are.

If you are keen to learn more about yourself, and move beyond the surface — this is your home.
